Broadband on Trains
European citizens are demanding access to broadband networks wherever they are including while they are travelling.Travellers are already capable of accessing these services at stations and airports and the logical extension is their provision on board trains. To respond to this demand, train operator companies are evaluating available technologies and are launching research initiatives to test different solutions.
The Avanti communication's study gathered an overview of all issues affecting the potential deployment of these services for the benefit of European train operators. It included a review of the available technical solutions: extensive primary and secondary market research to assess the demand from users across the European Union; analysis of various charging and business models and assessment of the impact of regulation in both the telecommunications and railway industries.
